The French Missionaries first arrived in Vietnam in the 17th Century and later formed the Indochinese Colony in 1887. Over the next 70 years, French influence would infuse into the local culture, in language, architecture and of course, cuisine.

The Bánh mì (Vietnamese Baguette) is a true amalgam of these two cuisines: a French baguette filled with Vietnamese pork belly, Asian herbs and pickled vegetables together with French pate.

Bò lúc lắc is a French - inspired Vietnamese dish that literally translates to "Shaking (dice) beef", named after the dice sized cubes of steak. Marinated in a French vinaigrette and always served with rice and nước chấm sauce.
